Andrew Thomas BSc.Kin., M.T.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Dalhousie
University (2001), I was not sure what I wanted to do next. I enjoyed
anatomy, working with people, and helping them learn about their
bodies. I took a year off of school and tried various jobs ranging
from an ergonomist to a door-to-door insurance agent. Although such
endeavors did involve helping people in some ways, they just weren’t
‘hands on’ enough. In the fall of 2002 I enrolled in
the Massage Therapy program at ICT Northumberland College here in
Halifax.
Since I graduated in June 2004, I have been thrilled to get my
hands on people, ease their pain, and help them maintain and/or
enhance their personal health and quality of life.
For the last year, I have become involved in Capoeira, the Brazilian
Dance-Fight Game. This martial art mixes fluid dance-like movements
with dramatic kicks and postures. It is a great way to develop strength,
coordination and balance. If you have a conversation with me, chances
are that Capoeira will enter into it at some point. In my free time
I also like to read, listen to music and try to play jazz guitar.
